Hello, I am a Somatic Psychotherapist practising in the Melbourne CBD and Hampton.
My way of working with people is a gentle and supportive approach that is informed by theories of attachment, trauma, self psychology and intersubjectivity. I work with you to create new experiences that allow a freedom from ways of being that are not working for you. You can read more about Somatic Psychotherapy here. This approach is also applied to assisting parents with challenges in the family dynamic. I also work directly with trauma and on improving performance using a therapy called Comprehensive Resource Model (CRM).
I am a Clinical Member of the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) and therefore abide by their code of ethics. I am also on the Executive Committee of the Empathink Association for Psychoanalytic Self Psychology (EAPSP) and a member of the International Association of Psychoanalytic Self Psychology (IAPSP) and the International Association of Relational Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy (IARPP) to ensure I am kept up to date on the latest ideas and progress in my field.
My studies include a Bachelor of Arts, Graduate Diploma of Training and Development, Certificate of Embodied Relational Dynamics and Diploma of Contemporary Somatic Psychotherapy, Brainspotting Level 1 & 2 and Comprehensive Resource Model (CRM) 1 & 2. I have just completed a second year of the IPSS Distance Learning Program. I also regularly attend professional development sessions and clinical supervision to hone my skills.
In addition to seeing one-on-one clients, I work with Denise Ball and Dominique O'Rourke at Bamkins, where we run courses for parents on emotionally intelligent parenting and an introduction to body, mind and gut connection.
